MANO BOLIVAR (OPA)
School Director - Instructor of Barbering
mano@ahdalaska.com

32 years in the beauty industry. Instructor for 30 years. Mano has been doing hair longer than most of us have been alive, and he commands respect when he wields the shears. Teaching is Mano’s passion, so when he chooses to share some of his age-old wisdom, you better listen up. This man’s got skills. And he’s so darn cute.

INGE BOLIVAR (OMA)
Instructor of Hairdressing and Esthetics
inge@ahdalaska.com

32 years in the beauty industry, Instructor for 10 years. Inge is an inspiration to all who know her and have had the fortune to be her student. Inge’s approval doesn’t come cheap, but this lady knows what she’s doing and is very passionate about what she teaches. If you get a thumbs up from Inge, you did something right. She may seem all business, but Inge can do a mean Polka. And she can work a scarf like no other. That lady has style, and a sweet German accent.

MICHAEL BOLIVAR
Education and Personal Director
Instructor of Barbering

michael@ahdalaska.com
28 years in the beauty industry. Instructor for 15 years. Michael’s personality is as colorful as his many tattoos. But it’s not all fun and games with this guy. He’s serious about hair (maybe it’s ‘cause he doesn’t have any) and loves helping students reach their goals and obtain success in the beauty industry. He loves everything to do with cutting and coloring hair, and will go to extreme lengths to find that perfect shade for a client. If you get a chance, ask him to tell you the red-head hair color-matching story, you won’t be disappointed.

RACHEL BOLIVAR
Instructor of Hairdressing and Esthetics
rachel@ahdalaska.com
10 years in the beauty industry. Instructor for 3 years. Rachel is Michael’s better half. She keeps him and the students at AHD in check. Rachel’s least favorite cut to teach is the mullet, but as with all great instructors, she’s not afraid to instruct willing AHD students how to cut and style the most super-fly mullet around. It’s good to be prepared, because you never know when a client might ask for a mullet.

HISTORY
AHD has been educating Alaska’s top beauty industry professionals since 1986. It’s a family operation - Mano, Inge, Michael and Rachel own and operate AHD as a family entity. But AHD is not your average Mom and Pop business. The instructors have a combined 95 years in the beauty industry. That’s a lot of years.

MISSION
AHD’s main mission is to provide high-quality education programs in hairdressing, barbering and esthetics to students in the great state of Alaska. AHD endeavors to provide professional instruction, utilizing modern equipment and facilities to prepare students for the state licensing examinations and for profitable employment in entry positions in the hair and skin care industries.

AHD strives to provide a professional learning environment, which meets the needs of both the hair and skin care industry students, while also assuring the comfort and satisfaction of the patrons.
